Meet the Professionals!

Karen Best has a Bachelors Degree in Apparel and Textile Design with a focus on CAD and minor in Art.  She has owned and operated Matrix Computer Concepts, Inc for 11 years providing web design, hosting, and Internet Solutions for her clients.  She is the founder of a Healing Arts program formally known as the “Hat Attack”,  in which she uses the power of dress to create a healing space for cancer patients.  Ms. Best is also the creative mind behind Greensboro’s Summer Solstice Celebration and Goddess Market held each year at the Arboretum.  Following suit, this dress up event uses the power of clothing to instill a state of well being.  Karen is a first time author with 2 books coming out this year, “Hat Magic” and “Admission” both having to do with her work doing healing arts programs using apparel design.  Her latest design project was with Hanes Brands, Inc working on the technical design team that handles Champion and C9 inner and outer wear for Men, Women, Boys, and Girls.  I'm a major econista!  Love animals and nature and find inspiration within them. 

As Founder & Visionary of the Wombmens Temple, Nadirah Goldsmith has a profound love for organizing and gathering women to inspire, encourage and empower them to tap into the divine power within; giving birth to their divine purpose. Since graduating from Bennett College in 1999 with a B.A. of Psychology and studying Women & Gender Studies at the Graduate level at UNC Greensboro, Nadirah has been extensively involved with the work of healing women.

Ms. Goldsmith has served on the Board of ”Girls Inc.”(Guilford County), facilitated Women's Services with YWCA of High Point, served at battered women and homeless women shelters, residential programs and volunteered with many organizations, programs and events that facilitate programs and events for the empowerment of girls and women across the country. A native of Philadelphia, PA, Nadirah currently resides in Greensboro, NC with her two children and is presently employed with her Alma Mata; Bennett College for Women.

Merikay H. Tillman, MS is a Motivational Speaker, Trainer & Author. Ms. Tillman's rich background in healthcare, business & industry, and the non-profit sector has helped hundreds of people improve their quality of life and work performance. She operates two additonal companies serving as president of Rowdy Angel and as an Independent Consultant for ARBONNE® International. Her professional achievements and experiences include:  Over fifteen years experience in the healthcare and business sectors serving as a manager and consultant.  She is a certified Dale Carnegie® instructor.   Merikay was recognized as one of the Triad's Top 40 Leaders under 40 in 2002. Merikay is a member of the National Speakers Association.   She has an undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and master's degree from North C A&T State University
 

Wendy Lee has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Apparel Design with a focus on patternmaking. She has been an active member of the Fashion Advisory Board at Stephens College for over 10 years and has served on the Jury Of Selection 4 times. Mrs. Lee is also an active member of ASTM. Wendy has been in the apparel industry for over 25 years working across product lines and genders. Her most recent assignment at Hanesbrands Inc. involves creating standards across the technical design teams across the globe. Wendy has been an active Stampin Up! demonstrator for 5 years and her creative outlet is teaching the art of papercrafting to others.
